思召依之切腹被 仰付者也
【朱】此御書付不定慥に不承
○一内匠頭様御装束下白【朱挿入】小袖上熨斗目麻【朱挿入】上下着用
上意之趣謹而御聞奉畏候由御請なり
○一書院之庭江畳三畳敷其上にふとん敷其上に而御切腹なり
其座江御直り被成候時脇差之先弐寸計出し奉書紙に而包み水
引に而結ひ三方に戴出申候御脇差御戴肩衣前計御取押
はたぬき左之あばらへ押立右之方へ御引廻し御介錯と御声を
相図に其侭武太夫介錯仕候下総守殿殊外切腹御急きに付ふとん
も漸々出来合申程之由
現代語訳
思し召しにより、切腹を仰せ付けられるものである。
【朱書】この御書付、不定で確かに承らず
○一、内匠頭様の御装束は、下は白い小袖、上は熨斗目麻の上下を着用。
上意の趣を謹んで御聞きし、畏れ入り候由でお受けになった。
○一、書院の庭に畳三畳を敷き、その上に布団を敷いて、その上で御切腹である。
その座にお直りになった時、脇差の先を二寸ほど出し、奉書紙で包み、水引で結び、三方に載せて差し出し申した。御脇差をお取りになり、肩衣の前だけをお取り押さえ、刃貫きを左の肋骨に押し立て、右の方へお引き回しになり、「御介錯」とのお声を合図に、そのまま武太夫が介錯を仕った。下総守殿は、格別に切腹をお急ぎになったので、布団もやっと出来合わせた程度であった由。

[Red annotation] This written statement is uncertain and not clearly understood.
○ First, Lord Takumi-no-kami's attire: underneath a white kosode, over it noshime hemp formal dress (kamishimo). He accepted the announcement, saying he humbly heard His Lordship's intention and was in awe.
○ First, three tatami mats were laid in the garden of the study hall, a futon was spread on top of them, and seppuku was performed thereon. When he took his position at that seat, about two sun of the wakizashi blade was exposed, wrapped in hōsho paper, tied with mizuhiki cord, and presented on a sanpō (ritual tray). He took the wakizashi, pressed down only the front of his kataginu, thrust the blade into his left ribs, drew it across to the right, and at his cry of "kaishakunin!", Budayū immediately performed the beheading. Since Lord Shimōsa-no-kami was particularly urgent about the seppuku, even the futon was only hastily prepared.
