以上の通り、三、四人ずつ組を決め、懸り引きも一緒に行うようにと申し合わせた。
○一、皆で準備をし、本庄と堀部安兵衛【左注：小豆屋善兵衛】、杉野十平次【左注：切売五兵衛】の借宅それぞれで集合し、両所で装束を着替え、合図などをした後、寅の上刻（午前4時頃）に出発し、上野介殿屋敷の脇で定めの通り二手に分かれた。表門攻撃隊の内、大高源五と間十次郎の両人が駆け抜け、屋敷前の町屋に火の用心のために掛けてあった橋子（はしご）二つを追い取り、これを塀へ打ち掛けて、右の二人が一番乗りを果たした。
