懸追々長屋の屋ね塀を乗裏門をはかけやを以打放し門
番人をしはり付番人を夜討方ゟ入替候而門を堅め裏門に而
相図の鉦を打裏門に而合せ候時松明一同に灯し切込申候入る者は
後を不顧屋敷中へ乱れ入前後ゟおめき立数百人取懸候様

橋子を掛け、次々と長屋の屋根や塀を乗り越えて裏門を破り、掛矢を以て打ち破し、門番人を縛り付け、番人を夜討ち方から入れ替えて門を固めた。裏門にて合図の鐘を打ち、裏門にて合わせた時、松明を一同に灯して切り込みを開始した。入る者は後を顧みず屋敷中へ乱れ入り、前後から喚き立て、数百人が取り掛かるように見せかけた。まず玄関の戸を打ち破し、広間へ上がった。その時当番の侍四、五人が走り掛かってきたのを即座に切り殺し、飾り弓の弦を切った。そこから槍の間へ行き、槍十四、五本を切り折った時、次の間にて騒がしく騒動を起こした。
屋敷を防ぐ者どもは「ただ今狼藉者が切り入った」と触れ回った。心ある者は日頃思い設けていた事であったが、既に二十三ヶ月を隔てていたので気が緩んでいた。

They placed the ladders, successively climbed over the roofs and walls of the long houses, broke through the back gate, smashed it open with sledgehammers, tied up the gate guards, replaced the guards with men from the night attack force, and secured the gate. They struck the signal gong at the back gate, and when the signal was coordinated at the back gate, everyone lit torches simultaneously and began the assault. Those entering rushed into the mansion grounds without looking back, raising war cries from front and rear, making it appear as if hundreds of men were attacking. First, they broke down the entrance doors and went up to the main hall. At that time, four or five samurai on duty came running toward them, but they were immediately cut down, and the bowstrings of the decorative bows were cut. From there they went to the spear room and cut and broke fourteen or fifteen spears. At that time, a noisy commotion arose in the next room.
