御首間十次郎揚候時何も遂本望打寄悦申其節廿計之
男長刀を以出る然れ共不叶とや思ひけん取て返し逃行を追
懸候処長刀を捨逃去申若き者共右之長刀泉岳寺迄
杖につき罷越見申候処金拵に而金物に桐のとうの毛彫も有
之候間定而御嫡子左兵衛殿に而可有之哉と何も推察仕候事

夜着蒲団取出し尋常に仕置候様にと何れも申談候也

現代語訳
▢一、上野介殿を討ち取った後、一人も出会う者はいなかった。ところが上野介殿の首を間十次郎が上げた時、皆が本望を遂げて寄り集まって喜んでいると、その時二十歳ほどの男が長刀を持って出てきた。しかし敵わないと思ったのか、取って返して逃げていくのを追いかけたところ、長刀を捨てて逃げ去った。若い者たちがその長刀を泉岳寺まで杖について行き、見たところ、金の拵えで金物に桐の唐草の毛彫りもあったので、きっと嫡子の左兵衛殿のものであろうかと皆で推察した。
○一、上野介殿の死骸は高家の御歴々であるから、粗末にしてはならないとして、夜着や蒲団を取り出し、きちんと安置するようにと皆で申し合わせた。
○一、右の通りなので、皆で合図の法螺貝を吹き、屋敷中に散らばった味方に知らせた。

▢One: After striking down Lord Kōzuke-no-suke, there was no one else encountered. However, when Mashichirō raised Lord Kōzuke-no-suke's head and everyone gathered around rejoicing at having achieved their long-cherished goal, at that moment a man of about twenty years came out with a naginata. But perhaps thinking he could not prevail, he turned back and fled. When they pursued him, he discarded the naginata and escaped. The young men used that naginata as a walking stick all the way to Sengaku-ji temple, and upon examination, they found it had gold fittings with engraved paulownia arabesque patterns on the metalwork, so everyone surmised it must have belonged to the heir, Lord Saemon.
○One: Since Lord Kōzuke-no-suke's corpse was that of a distinguished member of the kōke class, they agreed among themselves that it should not be treated carelessly, and they brought out night clothes and bedding to lay him out properly.
○One: Following the above, everyone blew the conch shell signal and scattered throughout the mansion to inform their comrades.
