現代語訳
残らず集めて玄関前で人数を改めたところ、一人も討たれていなかった。その中で寺坂吉右衛門という足軽が見当たらなかった。これは皆が乗り込んだ際に逃げ去ったということである。
後に預かり方で吉右衛門のことを尋ねたが、返答が不分明であった。吉右衛門のことを良いように挨拶はあったが、実際には外れていた（役目を果たさなかった）ということである。
▢一、女人・老人・小児の類の無用の輩を討ったかと内蔵助が調べたところ、そのような類は一人も討っていなかった。
一、原惣右衛門［武林只七］両人が塀を乗り越えた際に足を強く挫いたけれども、泉岳寺まで無事に歩行した。休息している間にかなり腫れ上がり、立ち座りも人に助けられる始末であった。
英語訳
They gathered everyone together and conducted a headcount in front of the main entrance, where they found that not one of them had been killed. Among them, a foot soldier named Terasaka Kichiemon was not to be seen. This was because he had fled when everyone was breaking into the mansion.
Later, when the custodial authorities inquired about Kichiemon, his answers were unclear. There were favorable remarks about Kichiemon, but in reality he had failed (to fulfill his duty).
▢One: When Kuranosuke investigated whether they had killed any useless people such as women, elderly, or children, they found that not one person of such categories had been killed.
One: Both Hara Sōemon [Takebayashi Tadashichi] sprained their feet badly when climbing over the fence, but they walked safely to Sengaku-ji temple. During their rest, the swelling became quite severe, and they had to be helped by others even to stand or sit.
