現代語訳
右の趣は松平隠岐守殿様の御家来安藤源右衛門という者が大高源五を預かっていたが、その後尋ねても全く物語をしなかった。その後佐々利右衛門の縁者で落合与左衛門と心安く、その上［殿］様のお耳にも達するであろうから承りたい旨申したところ、それではそのようなことかということで、右の趣をその通り物語した。

The above account comes from Andō Genemon, a retainer of Lord Matsudaira Oki-no-kami, who had custody of Ōtaka Gengo. When questioned afterward, he would not speak of it at all. Later, through Sasari Uemon's connections with Ochiai Yozaemon, with whom he was on friendly terms, and moreover since it would likely reach [his lord's] ears, he requested to hear the story. Upon being told "So that is how it was," he related the above account exactly as it happened.
