■一無縁寺江引取候時分間十次郎上野殿首を取たるをいかめ
敷言けるを武林只七我突伏し死人の首取たるはさもなき
事也外の面々江向つてか様の事は後日に批判も有もの也
証人に立て給れと申けるなり其後泉岳寺へ引取首を
手向為焼香之時内蔵助申けるは十次郎一番に焼香可被致
とて二番に内蔵助其次平生之勤の格式に段々焼香仕る也

御屋敷前鉄炮洲内匠頭様古御屋敷前ゟ泉岳寺へ引取也

現代語訳
■一 無縁寺へ引き取った時、間十次郎が上野殿の首を取ったことを誇らしげに言ったのを、武林只七が制止し「我が突き伏せて死んだ人の首を取ったのは大したことではない。他の面々に向かって、このような事は後日に批判されるものである。証人に立ってください」と申したのである。その後泉岳寺へ引き取り、首を手向けて焼香の時、内蔵助が申したのは「十次郎が一番に焼香をするべきである」として、二番に内蔵助、その次は平生の勤務の格式に従って順々に焼香を行った。

■One: When we withdrew to Mueniji Temple, Majūrō boasted about taking the head of Lord Kōzuke, but Takebayashi Tadashichi restrained him, saying, "Taking the head of someone I struck down and killed is nothing remarkable. Speaking of such things to the other men will invite criticism later. Please serve as my witness." After that, we withdrew to Sengakuji Temple, and when we offered the heads and performed incense burning, Kuranosuke said, "Jūjirō should perform the first incense offering," with Kuranosuke performing the second, and then the others performing incense offerings in order according to their usual rank and service.
〇One: The route taken was crossing Shin-Ōhashi Bridge, passing through Kobiki-chō, Shiodome Bridge, in front of Lord Matsudaira Mutsu-no-kami's mansion, in front of Lord Takumi-no-kami's former mansion in Teppōzu, and then withdrawing to Sengakuji Temple.
