申候取次之者罷出障子を開け見申候へは両人異形の体に相見申候
只今御案内は御両人に而候哉と承候其時両人名字を名乗拙者共
義は浅野内匠頭家来浪人に而御座候兼而御存知之通吉良上野介殿
御事は亡主内匠頭敵に而御座候に付昨夜上野介殿御宅江推参仕
遂本望則御首は一味之者共持参仕只今芝泉岳寺へ引取申候
此旨御注進可申上と参上仕候何分にも宜敷御指図奉頼候若御尋
之義御座候はゝ一味之者共只今是江可被召寄候依之両人罷越
現代語訳
両人は大御目附仙石伯耆守殿《割書：久尚愛宕ノ下｜千八百石》の御宅へ赴き、御注進の者と申し上げて、すぐに門内へ入りました。右の両人は内玄関へ参り、案内を取り次いでいただきたいと申しました。取次の者が出てまいり、障子を開けて見ますと、両人は異様な姿に見えました。「ただいまご案内するのはお二人でしょうか」と尋ねられた時、両人は名字を名乗り、「拙者どもは浅野内匠頭の家来で浪人でございます。かねてよりご存知の通り、吉良上野介殿のことは亡主内匠頭の敵でございます。そのため昨夜上野介殿の御宅へ押し参り、本懐を遂げました。その首は一味の者どもが持参し、ただいま芝の泉岳寺へ引き取っております。この旨をご注進申し上げようと参上いたしました。何とぞよろしくご指図をお願いいたします。もしお尋ねのことがございましたら、一味の者どもをただいまここへお呼び寄せいただけます。」そのため両人は赴きました。

The two men went to the residence of Ōmetsuke Sengoku Hōki-no-kami [marginal note: Hisanao, below Atago, 1,800 koku], stating they had come to report urgent news, and immediately entered through the gate. The two men proceeded to the inner entrance and requested that their visit be announced. The attendant came out and opened the sliding door to look, whereupon the two men appeared to be in strange attire. When asked "Are you the two gentlemen requesting an audience now?", the two men gave their names, saying: "We are retainers of Asano Takumi-no-kami, now masterless samurai. As you well know, Lord Kira Kōzuke-no-suke was the enemy of our deceased lord Takumi-no-kami. Therefore, last night we went to Kōzuke-no-suke's residence and accomplished our long-cherished desire. His head has been taken by our confederates and they have now withdrawn to Sengakuji Temple in Shiba. We have come to report this matter. We humbly request your guidance in this affair. Should there be any inquiries, our confederates can be summoned here immediately." For this reason, the two men had come.
