被成候両人書院之白洲江通り候時洗足之湯を出し候に付辞義
仕手を上け戴き入御念被仰付候忝旨申候而草鞋をぬき洗足
致し仰にまかせ小袖着直し可申候余り尾籠なる体に御座候と申
候故書院の次之番人少し退き申候忠左衛門肌をぬき帯仕直し候
時茶通ひ之坊主に向ひ辞義致し袖のうちゟ米を出し
むさきものに而候間御捨可被下と申候昨夜之様なる時は息きれ
に能候と申候助右衛門も肌をぬき帯仕直し申候助右衛門下に
白小袖着し申候其断と聞へ坊主に向ひ若きものへ不似

両人が書院の白洲へ通った時、洗足の湯を出してくださったので、辞義をして手を上げて戴き、ご丁寧にお言いつけいただき恐縮であると申し上げ、草鞋を脱いで足を洗い、仰せに従って小袖を着直そうと思います。あまりに汚らしい格好でございますと申したところ、書院の次の番人が少し退いた。忠左衛門が肌脱ぎをして帯を締め直す時、茶通いの坊主に向かって辞義をし、袖の内から米を出して「汚いものでございますが、お捨てください」と申した。昨夜のような時には息切れに良いのですと申した。助右衛門も肌脱ぎをして帯を締め直した。助右衛門は下に白小袖を着ていた。その理由を聞くと、坊主に向かって「若い者には似合わない白小袖を着ていると思われるでしょうが、これには訳がございます。私の母を一人持っております。昨夜のため
