切て出申候間十次郎手燭を持参仕見申候処長持之上に人居申候
上に茶の亀あや嶋下に白小袖ねまき帯に而居申候よもや上
野介様に而は有之間敷と何れも立寄主人之有所を申候へと

申候此炭部屋と申は物置所と相見へ申候上野を何れも覚居

現代語訳
そこで槍の石突きで探したところ、その時内から一人が刀を抜いて出て、非常に激しく戦ったので、皆で寄ってたかって討ち止めました。また内へ半弓を射込みました。「それだけか」とのお尋ねに、両人が答えて「炭や茶碗なども投げ出しました」と笑顔で申しました。その内にまた一人が斬って出てきたので、間十次郎が手燭を持参して見たところ、長持の上に人がおりました。上に茶の甕、綾島、下に白小袖、寝巻き、帯姿で座っておりました。「まさか上野介様ではあるまい」と皆で立ち寄り、「主人の居場所を申せ」と声々に申しましたが、無言でおりましたので、武林只七が槍で顔を突きました。この炭部屋と申すのは物置き所と見えます。「上野を皆覚えているか、脇差を抜いたか、刀はどうか」とのお尋ねについて、「お刀はお居間と存じます所にありました」。
