現代語訳
家老、用人が切々と話の相手に出る。何も形の如く行儀正しくしているとのこと。お料理等も軽くしていただくよう度々お断り申し上げている。
■一 お預けの面々が御屋敷へ到着してすぐに、いずれの方ともお会いになったとのこと。うち隠岐守殿にはご病気のためお会いにならなかった。細川越中守殿においてはお会いになって、この度皆々大儀であったとおっしゃった。総礼が終わって大石内蔵助が申し上げたのは、「恐れながら存命の内はご厄介になる旨」をお請けしたとのこと。皆を下屋敷へ遣わし、十五日の夜に伯耆守殿において立ち合いがあった。御徒目付などとお届けがあったとのこと。

The chief retainers and stewards constantly come out to serve as conversation partners. Everything is conducted with proper decorum as befits the situation. They repeatedly declined, requesting that meals and such be kept simple.
■One Immediately upon the arrival of those in custody at the various residences, they met with each [lord]. Among them, Lord Oki-no-kami did not meet with them due to illness. At Lord Hosokawa Echizen-no-kami's residence, he met with them and said that they had all performed a great deed this time. After the general ceremonies concluded, Oishi Kuranosuke stated that, "with all due respect, they would be in [his lordship's] care for the remainder of their lives," thus accepting the arrangement. Everyone was sent to the lower residence, and on the night of the 15th there was a formal meeting at Lord Hoki-no-kami's residence. There were reports from the foot inspectors and others.
