一堀部弥兵衛隠居して老衰の身なれとも采女正様ゟ内匠頭様
迄得御厚恩隠居料迄給りい一方ならす思ひ詰けるにそ馬渕
一郎左衛門と改名して内蔵助同意に仇討之謀をなし吉良家之虚
実を聞き討入之夜も若者十八人を六手に分口々ゟ切入残兵は詰り〳〵
に配り寄手弐三百人も有之体に下知をなし勝理を得たる謀

母娘ともに打ち寄せて涙の乾く隙もなく候。既に本望を遂げた後、見送ったものに有増が伝え越した妻や娘に送る言葉に、
「今ぞ知る辛き言葉は情あり、思いを残す肩身なりけり」
一、堀部弥兵衛は隠居して老衰の身であったが、浅野采女正様から内匠頭様まで御厚恩を得て、隠居料まで給わり、一方ならず思い詰めるに、馬渕一郎左衛門と改名して内蔵助と同意に仇討ちの謀をなした。吉良家の虚実を聞き、討ち入りの夜も若者十八人を六手に分かち、口々より切り入り、残兵は詰まり詰まりに配り、寄せ手二三百人もあるような体に下知をなし、勝利を得たる謀計は明白である。

One, Horibe Yahei had retired and was in his declining years, but having received great favor from Lord Asano Uneme-no-kami through Lord Takumi-no-kami, and even receiving a retirement stipend, he was deeply moved beyond measure. He changed his name to Mabuchi Ichirōzaemon and conspired with Kuranosuke in plotting revenge. He investigated the true situation of the Kira household, and on the night of the attack, he divided eighteen young men into six groups, cutting in from various entrances, distributed the remaining soldiers strategically, and gave commands as if there were two to three hundred attackers, demonstrating the clear brilliance of his strategy that achieved victory.
