として遅れた心入りの人とは思わず、義絶いたした。何とか赤穂の者たちに同志もあるだろうかと尋ねたけれども、彦右衛門も又左衛門（磯貝十郎左衛門）も何事も秘して聞かせない。それならば赤穂へ立ち越して安否を確かめようと、四月五日江戸を発足した。
○一、大学殿（浅野大学長広）の閉門、その他御一類中の御遠慮、または築地御上屋敷引き渡しなどの義について、赤穂へ追々申し越した。
○一、早水藤左衛門と萱野三平が三月十九日の寅の後刻（午前4時頃）赤穂へ到着し、大石内蔵助へ申し達して、早々に登城した。何も御用があるとして、家中の者たちを残らず呼び集めた。右の段々について、大学様より御書を下され、内蔵助と九郎兵衛が拝見して読み聞かせた。

They inquired whether there might be any comrades among the Akō retainers, but both Hikoemon and Mataemon (Isogai Jūzaemon) kept everything secret and would not tell them anything. In that case, they decided to travel to Akō to confirm the situation, and departed from Edo on the 5th day of the 4th month.
○One: Regarding Daigaku-dono's (Asano Daigaku Nagahiro) confinement, the self-restraint of other family members, and the handover of the Tsukiji upper residence, word was sent to Akō one after another.
