一内蔵助物語に兼而夜深に押入候而は自然同士討候而は見苦
敷事に候七時分より明方迄之間に勝負可然と申合候得共人々
先を心懸候故少しはやく押込申候
一上野介殿に而無疵之者家老斎藤宮内松原多仲左右田孫
兵衛取次役書上原藤十郎平沢助大夫三田八左衛門
一上野介殿祐筆 と申す者騒動を承寐顔を摺々廻腰
に而罷出候処を一討に被伐候由其音を聞妻かけ出右之通りを見
及候に付脇差刀を取て死骸にさゝせ刀をは抜手に持せ置候由
現代語訳
十二月十五日
一、内蔵助の話では、かねてから夜深くに押し入れば、自然と同士討ちをして見苦しいことになるであろう。七時頃から明け方までの間に勝負をつけるのがよいと申し合わせていたが、人々が先を争って心を急かせたため、少し早く押し込んだということである。
一、上野介殿方で無傷であった者は、家老の斎藤宮内、松原多仲、左右田孫兵衛、取次役の書上原藤十郎、平沢助大夫、三田八左衛門である。
一、上野介殿の祐筆で〇〇と申す者が、騒動を聞いて寝顔を擦り擦り、腰を回すようにして出てきたところを一太刀で斬り伏せられたということである。その音を聞いて妻が駆け出し、右の通りを見るに及んで、脇差と刀を取って死骸に刺させ、刀は抜き身で持たせ置いたということである。

One: According to Kuranosuke's account, they had previously agreed that if they broke in too late at night, they would naturally end up fighting among themselves, which would be unseemly. They had arranged to settle the matter between seven o'clock and dawn, but because everyone was eager to be first and their hearts were racing, they pressed in a little early.
One: Those on Lord Kōzuke-no-suke's side who were unharmed were: chief retainer Saitō Kunai, Matsubara Tanaka, Sayūda Magobē, liaison officers Kakiage-hara Tōjūrō, Hirasawa Sukedayū, and Mita Hachizaemon.
One: A scribe of Lord Kōzuke-no-suke named [blank] heard the commotion and came out rubbing his sleepy face and turning his waist, whereupon he was cut down with a single blow. His wife, hearing the sound, rushed out and upon seeing this scene, took a short sword and long sword, had them thrust into the corpse, and left the sword drawn in his hand.
