共可相成覚悟に而御座候何地迄も召連候様にと申候内蔵助
申候は女迚も志を立候事成間敷に而は無之候其段は了簡
申候得共女と一列申候而は第一内匠頭様御為不宜候
次男事は幼少之者其上未主君江御目見も不仕候故召連
不申候出家に成共了簡次第義絶之上は構不申候主税事
は嫡子と云亡君江御目見へも仕相応之御恩をも請候故
一所に召連申候私事未其時前髪有之に付如何と申座敷
之手水鉢に而髪を洗ひ内蔵助自手元服仕せ呉申候
母も右之趣得心仕候而ヶ様之節は暇乞に盃は仕事に候

ともになれる覚悟でございます。どこまでも連れて行ってください」と申しました。内蔵助が申しますには「女といえども志を立てることができないわけではありません。その点は理解しております。しかし女と一緒に行くと申しては、第一に内匠頭様のためによろしくありません。次男のことは幼い者で、その上まだ主君にお目見えもしておりませんので連れて参りません。出家になるとも本人の考え次第です。義絶の上は構いません。主税のことは嫡子ということで、亡き君にお目見えもし、相応のご恩も受けておりますので、一緒に連れて参ります。私はまだその時前髪がございましたので、いかがなものかと申しましたところ、座敷の手水鉢で髪を洗い、内蔵助が自ら元服をさせてくれました。母もこのような趣旨を理解いたしまして、このような時には暇乞いに盃をするのが習わしでございます。
