責而盃を仕度と申候内蔵助尤と承届候乍然取乱たる
体共源五兵衛家来共に見せ申義も如何に候迚何事も同
前に候侭水に而盃可仕とて手水鉢之水を汲茶碗に而盃仕
暇乞仕申候源五兵衛も暇乞仕せ早速召連罷立候道に而私江内
蔵助申候は弥母も弟も無之と存せよ只寐ても覚ても
上野介殿首を可討と一心に念願仕候へと申聞候より已来母
事は毛頭不存出可達存念と存候計に候処思之侭に遂
本望大悦仕候此上は何事も不存末期之首尾計を心
懸け候計に候母事御尋に付右之義共存出し失十方落
現代語訳
ぜひとも盃をいたしたいと申しました。内蔵助はもっともだと承知いたしました。しかしながら取り乱した様子を源五兵衛の家来たちに見せるのもいかがなものかということで、何事も平常通りのままで、水で盃をしようということになり、手水鉢の水を汲んで茶碗で盃をして暇乞いをいたしました。源五兵衛も暇乞いをして、早速連れ立って出発いたしました。道中で内蔵助が私に申しますには「いよいよ母も弟もいないものと思え。ただ寝ても覚めても上野介殿の首を討つことだけを一心に念願せよ」と申し聞かせました。それ以来、母のことは少しも思わず、本懐を遂げることだけを考えておりましたところ、思いのままに本望を遂げることができ、大いに喜んでおります。この上は何事も考えず、最期の首尾だけを心がけるばかりでございます。母のことをお尋ねいただいたので、このようなことを思い出し、申し上げた次第でございます。
