浅野内匠頭長矩が独夫吉良のために世を棄てることとなった。初め殿中において事があった日、志を遂げることができず、独夫は首を全うした。ゆえに我ら臣等の遺恨は少しも息むことなく、これより同志の義士が相謀って独夫を刺そうと欲した。しかしながら時はまだ到らず、そして今月今日に至る。嗚呼、愚祖父木村吉兵衛は浅野霜台長政に奉仕し、息子は采女正長重の恩を受けた。ゆえに愚父木村惣兵衛は故内匠頭長直に親近し、慈愛を請うた。愚かで不肖な身であり、敢えて長矩の寵を受けるには及ばないといえども、祖父の功労によって俸禄に違いなく、妻子を養い

Asano Takumi-no-kami Naganori abandoned the world because of the villain Kira. On the day when the incident first occurred in the palace, he could not accomplish his intent, and the villain preserved his neck. Therefore, we retainers' lingering resentment does not cease for even a moment. From this time, righteous men of the same resolve conspired together, wanting to stab the villain. However, the time had not yet arrived, and now we have reached this month and this day. Alas! My foolish great-grandfather Kimura Kichibei served Asano Shimadai Nagamasa, and his son received the favor of Uneme-no-sho Nageshige. Therefore, my foolish father Kimura Sobei became close to the late Takumi-no-kami Naganao and sought his benevolent love. Though I am foolish and incompetent and hardly dare to receive Naganori's favor, due to my grandfather's meritorious service, I received my stipend without fail and supported my wife and children
