何にか此世に心残覧

自害した時の辞世の句 法名 赤心院妙蓮日姓信女
現実とも思わぬうちに夢から覚めて
妙なる仏法の花に乗ろう
妻や子が待っているだろうからと急かされても
何故この世に心を残そうか
一、元禄十六年未年九月 上杉弾正大弼殿の願いの通り御隠居、御家督を御嫡子民部大輔殿へ間違いなく仰せ付けられた

Death poem upon committing suicide Dharma name: Sekishin-in Myōren Nisshō Shinja
Before I even realize this is reality, I awaken from a dream
And shall ride upon the flower of the wondrous Dharma
Though urged to hurry because wife and children await
Why should I leave my heart attached to this world?
One: In the 9th month of Genroku 16, year of the sheep, Lord Uesugi Danjō-daihitsu retired as he wished, and the family headship was duly granted to his heir, Lord Minbu-dayu
