右之面々何も其合点に而内かた腰物等之用意仕候又此外にも
同志之者有之候得共神文差出し申に不及事に候其節罷出
切腹さへ仕候得は事済候迚神文をは出し不申族も多有之候
〇一片岡源五右衛門磯貝十郎左衛門田中貞四郎三人共小児性立赤穂へ
参内蔵助を初何も申合於大手切腹可仕と申候故何も神文仕
候処右之三人は切腹は仕間敷候格別之私共に候間直に江戸へ罷越
吉良殿を討可申由申候夫故人数に入不申候

三百五十石 川村伝兵衛
右の面々は皆その合点（同意）で、内方腰物等の用意をしました。また、この他にも同志の者がいましたが、神文（起請文）を差し出すには及ばないことでした。その節に出向いて切腹さえすれば事は済むということで、神文は出さない族も多くいました。
○一つ、片岡源五右衛門、磯貝十郎左衛門、田中貞四郎の三人とも小児性（若年者）で赤穂に参り、内蔵助をはじめ皆で申し合わせて大手で切腹するべきだと申しましたが、皆で神文をしたところ、右の三人は切腹はするべきではない、格別の私共であるから直ちに江戸へ行き、吉良殿を討つべきだと申しました。それ故に人数に入れませんでした。

All of the aforementioned individuals agreed and prepared their weapons and equipment at home. Additionally, there were other like-minded people, but it was not necessary for them to submit written oaths (kishibun). Many did not submit oaths, saying that if they simply appeared at the appointed time and committed seppuku, that would be sufficient.
○ One matter: Kataoka Gengoemon, Isogai Jūrōzaemon, and Tanaka Teishirō - all three being young men - came to Akō and consulted with Kuranosuke and others, saying they should commit seppuku at the main gate. However, when everyone made the written oath, these three said they should not commit seppuku, and being exceptional retainers, they should go directly to Edo to attack Lord Kira. For this reason, they were not included in the count.
