○一つ、三月二十八日、内蔵助、九郎兵衛より三次の御家老、御用人へ飛脚をもって右の趣旨を申し上げた。
○一つ、土佐守様より赤穂への御使者徳永又右衛門が三月二十一日三次を出発し、同二十三日赤穂に到着した。使者屋敷へ赴き、馳走人（接待役）小山源五右衛門が時々佐々小左衛門と見舞いに来た由。二十四日朝、内蔵助、九郎兵衛が赴いて挨拶があった。土佐守様よりの御使者の義であるから城へお出でになるようにと申した。又右衛門が申すには「お取り込み中であるからここで口上の趣旨を申し伝えよう」と言った。両人が申すには「仰せの通りお取り込み中でございますから、そのようになさってください」と言った。御口上の趣旨は「この度内匠頭殿の不慮のお仕合い、言語に絶するものである。各々の心底お察し申し上げる。しかしながらできる限り騒動がないよう申し付けられるようにと」使者をもって申し入れた由。御口上の趣旨を畏れ多く承った。家中の者どもにも申し聞かせるから御請けは明日申し上げようということで帰った。同夜

○ One matter: Lord Tosa no Kami's messenger to Akō, Tokunaga Mataemon, departed Miyoshi on the 21st day of the third month and arrived in Akō on the 23rd. He went to the messenger's quarters, where the host Koyama Gen'gorōemon and occasionally Sasa Kozaemon came to pay their respects.
