城引渡しの件について、先日使者をもって申し遣わしましたので、その意をお汲み取りいただけるものと存じます。内匠（内匠頭）は日頃から公儀に対して忠勤を尽くしてこられたことは、皆様もご存知のことでございます。この度の事態については是非もございませんが、急いで作法よく速やかにその地をお引き払いになることが肝要でございますので、なおこの旨をお心得ください。

Regarding the matter of castle surrender, I sent a messenger the other day to convey this, so I trust you will understand the intent. Takumi (Takumi-no-kami) has long served the government faithfully, as you are all well aware. Regarding this incident, there is no helping what has happened, but it is essential that you quickly and properly withdraw from that place with all due ceremony, so please keep this in mind.
