源為朝は左衛門大尉為義の第八子である。猿のように長い腕を持ち、弓を射ることに長けていた。
幼少の頃から諸兄を凌ぎ犯すことがあった。十三歳の時、為義は彼が朝廷の法を犯すことを

The Legend of Minamoto no Tametomo

Minamoto no Tametomo was the eighth son of Saemon-no-daijō Yoshitomo. He had long arms like an ape and was skilled in archery.
From his youth, he often overstepped and violated his elder brothers' authority. At the age of thirteen, Yoshitomo feared that he would violate the court's laws
and banished him to Bungo Province. There, Tametomo went to Higo Aso together with his wet nurse's son, Owari-no-gon-no-kami Ieto,
and married the daughter of the chief priest Taira no Tadakuni, calling himself Chin-
zei Hachirō. Using Tadakuni as his guide, he attacked and conquered various castles.
He frequently fought against the great clans of Kikuchi and Harada and defeated them. At the age of fifteen,
he finally subjugated all nine provinces and styled himself as the General Pacification Commissioner of the Nine Provinces. The shrine priests of Kashii Shrine
successively appealed to the capital. In the first year of Kyūju (1154), in the eleventh month, the court
