にも御噺申上候通り私義は日開野の
大和茂十郎様に大恩をうけ其上
宮まて建呉置しに今亦君の仰
に随ひ当地に止まる時は今まで
恩を請し茂十郎殿に立訳なく
且又尽せし忠義も水の泡となる
べし爰の所を聞し召（めし）此義は
外〳〵へ命し私義は定の官
を下し給り御暇を給るべしと
堅く辞退して中〳〵承知の色な
かりければ六右衛門も詮方なく不興げ
に奥へ入けり扨六右衛門は禁長に一大
事を頼み味方に腹させんと色（いろ）
〳〵すかしけれども一向承知を
せざれば詮方なくさま〳〵心義
苦るしめける元来此六右衛門
は強悪不用のものなりあるとき
己が眷属の内腹心のもの四人有
現代語訳
にも先ほどお話し申し上げました通り、私は日開野の大和茂十郎様に大恩を受け、その上お宮まで建てて置いてくださったのに、今また君のお言葉に従ってこの地に留まる時は、今まで恩を受けた茂十郎殿に言い訳が立たず、かつまた尽くした忠義も水の泡となってしまいます。ここのところをお聞き届けください。この件は他の者に命じられ、私には決まった役職をお与えになって、お暇をいただきたく存じます」と
堅く辞退して一向に承知する様子がなかったので、六右衛門も仕方なく、不機嫌そうに奥へ入っていった。さて六右衛門は禁長に一大事を頼み、味方につけようと色々と説得したけれども、一向に承知しないので仕方なく、様々に心を苦しめていた。元来この六右衛門は強欲で悪辣な使い物にならない者であった。あるとき自分の一族の内で腹心の者四人がいた。

as I mentioned earlier, I have received great kindness from Lord Yamato Mojūrō of Hibiraki-no, and moreover he even built a shrine for me. If I now follow your words and remain in this place, I would have no excuse to offer to Lord Mojūrō who has shown me such favor until now, and furthermore, all the loyalty I have devoted would come to naught. Please understand this situation. Command others for this matter, and grant me a fixed position and permission to take my leave."
He firmly declined and showed no sign of agreement whatsoever, so Rokuemon had no choice but to retreat to the inner quarters with a displeased expression. Now, Rokuemon had entrusted Kinchō with a great matter and tried various means of persuasion to win him as an ally, but since he would not agree at all, Rokuemon had no recourse but to torment himself with various anxious thoughts. Originally, this Rokuemon was a greedy, wicked, and worthless fellow. At one time, among his kinsmen there were four who were his trusted confidants.
