征伐の外多事なし付而は貴殿に

汝数代我領内に住で家族を養（やしな）ひ
ながら其大 恩（おん）を忘（わす）れ敵方へ内 通（つう）し
現代語訳
殿をはじめ数多の一族が日々禁長征伐以外に事なし。ついては貴殿に内々御密談の件がございますので、只今穴観音へお越しなさるべし」と述べたところ、鹿子は「はっ」と御受け申し上げ、使いを返し、何の疑いも抱かずただ一匹で穴観音を目指して到着した。程なく六右衛門の住処へ来て案内に連れられて広間へ通された。その様子を見ると、正面には大将六右衛門、その左右には川島九左衛門・同作右衛門・役右衛門・八兵衛、その外数百匹の古狸がそれぞれ威儀を正して並んでいた。鹿子は恐れる色もなく平伏し「今日禁長征伐の件について臣へ御密談があるとのことで命じられ、則ち病中ながら出仕いたしました」と申し上げた。その時大将六右衛門は面色が猛火のごとく大いに怒り「己れ小狸、よく聞けよ。汝は数代我が領内に住んで家族を養いながら、その大恩を忘れ敵方へ内通し

Without any suspicion, she alone set out for Ana Kannon and arrived there. Soon she came to Rokuzaemon's dwelling, was led by a guide to the main hall. Looking at the scene, she saw General Rokuzaemon seated at the front, with Kawashima Kuzaemon, Sakuzaemon, Yakuzaemon, and Hachibe on his left and right, and hundreds of other old tanuki arranged in rows, each maintaining dignified bearing. Kanoko showed no sign of fear and prostrated herself, saying "Today I have been commanded regarding a confidential discussion about the subjugation of Kinchō, so though I am ill, I have come to serve." At that moment, General Rokuzaemon's face became like raging fire and he grew greatly angry: "You little tanuki, listen well! For generations you have lived in my domain and supported your family, yet you have forgotten that great debt and secretly communicated with the enemy.
