其夜ひそかに日開野村鎮守堂を

現代語訳
気を取り直し心を静めて考えてみれば、これこそ六右衛門の仕業で、禁長殿への内通したことが露見して殺されたに違いない。そうであれば敵は六右衛門である。このままにはしておけない。さあ踏み込んで討ち取ろうと駆け出したが、立ち戻って「いや、いや、敵は名高い六右衛門である。しかるに女がたった一人で行ったところで何の益もなく殺されるだろう。この上は日開野へ行き、禁長殿に夫の敵を討ってもらおう」と思案を決め、泣きながら夫の死骸を辺りの草の中へ葬り、涙を払って、それから我が家へ帰り、あれこれと用意をし、その夜ひそかに日開野村の鎮守堂を目指して急いで行った。

Collecting herself and calming her heart, when she thought it through, this must surely be Rokuzaemon's doing - her husband had been killed because his secret communications with Lord Kinchō had been discovered. If so, then the enemy was Rokuzaemon. She could not leave this as it was. "Come, I shall storm in and strike him down!" she started to rush forth, but then turned back: "No, no, the enemy is the renowned Rokuzaemon. For a woman to go alone would be of no benefit - I would only be killed. In this situation, I must go to Hiakaino and ask Lord Kinchō to avenge my husband's death." Having settled on this plan, she tearfully buried her husband's corpse in the nearby grass, wiped away her tears, returned to her home, made various preparations, and that night secretly set out in haste toward the shrine hall of Hiakaino village.
