○この戦争が思惑通りにならなかったことにより、四時頃フランス軍は「フロスウィレル」を去って「ビッチェ」に向かい、山道を越えて退いたため、我が分隊の騎兵は残らずこれを追撃しようと、にわかに出撃した。

At the conclusion of this battle, the French forces unleashed their main cavalry corps against our 5th and 11th Corps, trampling over them in a charge. In particular, they assaulted our artillery units. At that moment, our artillery held their ground, fought back in response, and barely managed to repel the attack. The infantry likewise did the same.
○ As this battle had not gone according to plan, around four o'clock the French forces departed "Froeschwiller," heading toward "Bitche," and withdrew over the mountain roads. Thereupon, all the cavalry of our detachment suddenly sortied forth in order to pursue and attack them from the rear.
