琉球我南海中に在て千百里をへだつといへども舟槎（しうさ）自（おのづか）ら至り
易（やす）く且（かつ）其国の性情（せい〳〵）及び百事の状態に至て甚 皇国（くわうこく）に
近（ちか）しとす往古（わうご）より我朝へ臣附するの国を清（しん）朝鮮琉球／阿蘭（おらん）
陀（だ）とす清は通商（つうしやう）のみにして長崎に止り朝鮮今／都下（とか）に来らず
阿蘭陀都下に来（きた）れども僅（はづか）に三人に過ず特（ひと）り琉球の聘使（へいし）已（のみ）
昭代外夷待遇（しやうだぐわいいたいぐう）の盛礼（せいれい）を仰察（けうさつ）するに足（た）れりとす且薩国の
英武（ゑいぶ）は普（あまね）く人の知る処なれども百代の今日に至て其／光曜（くわうよう）の

衣箱（イカ）
琉球は我が南海中にあって千百里を隔てるといえども、船で自然と行き着きやすく、かつその国の性情および百事の状態において甚だ皇国に近いとする。往古より我が朝廷へ臣従する国を、清・朝鮮・琉球・オランダとする。清は通商のみにして長崎に留まり、朝鮮は今都下に来ず、オランダは都下に来るといえどもわずかに三人に過ぎない。ひとり琉球の聘使のみが、昭代における外夷待遇の盛礼を仰ぎ察するに足るとする。かつ薩摩国の英武は広く人の知るところであるが、百代の今日に至ってその光輝が後昆に及ぶことは他の比すべきものではない。今、先輩の諸説を引用して小冊子を綴り、刻して児童の輩にこの盛事を示そうとするものである。

Although Ryukyu lies in our southern seas, separated by over a thousand ri, it is naturally easy to reach by ship, and moreover, in terms of the character of its people and the state of all affairs, it is extremely close to our Imperial Country. From ancient times, the countries that have submitted as vassals to our court are considered to be Qing, Korea, Ryukyu, and Holland. Qing engages only in trade and remains in Nagasaki; Korea does not come to the capital now; Holland comes to the capital but with only three people at most. Only Ryukyu's diplomatic envoys are sufficient for observing and understanding the grand ceremonies of our enlightened age's treatment of foreign peoples. Moreover, while the martial prowess of Satsuma Domain is widely known, the fact that its brilliance extends to future generations even to this day of a hundred generations is incomparable to others. Now, citing various theories of our predecessors, I compile this small booklet and publish it to show this grand affair to children and young people.
