虎杖（コジョウ）《イタドリ》《本草綱目》
毒がある。春に宿根から生える。初めはタケノコのようで、茎は円形で中が空洞になっている。葉は互生し、秋に葉の間に穂をなして小さな白い花が密集して咲く。実の形は大黄のようである。妊婦が食べると、その子にワキガが生じる。

一弁蓮（イチベンレン）《ミズバショウ》《秘伝花鏡》
毒がある。深山の池沢のそばに生える。葉や茎は短く柔らかで淡緑色をしている。春の末の早晩、葉の間から短い茎を生じて一弁の白い花を開く。おおよそ匙の先のような形をしている。中心に緑色の蕊がある。また葉の表面に黒い斑点があるものもあり、それはその一種である。

Kojō (Japanese Knotweed) 《Itadori》《Compendium of Materia Medica》
It has toxicity. It grows from perennial roots in spring. Initially it resembles bamboo shoots, with round stems that are hollow inside. The leaves grow alternately, and in autumn it forms spikes between the leaves with small white flowers clustering densely. The fruit resembles rhubarb in shape. If pregnant women consume it, their children will develop body odor.

Ichiben-ren (Single-petal Lotus) 《Mizubashō》《Secret Transmission Flower Mirror》
It has toxicity. It grows beside ponds and marshes in deep mountains. The leaves and stems are short, soft, and light green in color. In the early or late period of late spring, short stems grow from between the leaves and open single-petaled white flowers. They are roughly shaped like the tip of a spoon. There are green stamens in the center. Some also have black spots on the leaf surface, which are a variety of this species.
