玉簪（ギョクサン）《タウギボウシ》《本草綱目》
毒がある。各所に栽培して切り花にする。春に葉を生じ、縦筋がある。夏に茎を伸ばして白花を開く。六弁で長い蕊がある。完全に開かずに萎む。花の後に莢を結び、中に小さな黒い種がある。紫萼（シガク）《ギボウシ》《汝南圃史》、小紫（ショウシ）《サジギボウ》《群芳譜》と呼ばれるくだまたまのかんざし等は、その一種である。

莨菪（ヨウロウ）《オメキクサ》《本草綱目》
大毒がある。深山の幽谷に生える。春に宿根から苗を生じ、紫黒色で、成長すると淡緑色になる。高さは一、二尺。葉は商陸（ヤマゴボウ）の葉に似て狭く小さい。葉の間に筒状の花を開く。末端は五弁で沙参（ツリガネニンジン）のようである。花の後に実を結ぶ。根は山卑薢（サンヒカイ）《トコロ》のようである。誤ってこれを食べると狂気して走り回る。そのため「はしりどころ」の名がある。

It has toxicity. It is cultivated in various places for cut flowers. In spring it produces leaves with vertical lines. In summer it extends stems and opens white flowers. It has six petals and long stamens. It withers without fully opening. After flowering, it forms pods containing small black seeds inside. Shigaku (Purple Calyx) 《Giboushi》《Jonan Garden History》 and Shoushi (Small Purple) 《Sajigibow》《Collection of Fragrant Plants》, called kudamatama no kanzashi and others, are varieties of this species.

Yorou (Henbane) 《Omekikusa》《Compendium of Materia Medica》
It has great toxicity. It grows in secluded valleys of deep mountains. In spring it produces seedlings from perennial roots, which are purple-black in color and turn light green as they grow. The height is one to two shaku. The leaves resemble those of Shouriku (pokeweed) but are narrow and small. It opens tubular flowers between the leaves. The tips have five petals and resemble Shashin (bellflower). After flowering, it bears fruit. The roots are like those of Sanhikai (wild yam). If eaten by mistake, it causes madness and running about wildly. Hence it has the name "hashiridokoro" (running place).
