安永六年酉正月

凡物の化するや石の燕となり筆
の蟋蟀となるはよく化すといふへし
こゝに鳥山石燕なるもの画にあそふ
こと年ありその筆亦よく化して
森羅万象なさすといふものなし
さきに鳥山彦を著し世人しる処
なり今はた古画の百鬼夜行に據て

現代語訳

安永六年酉正月

およそ物が変化するときに、石が燕となり筆が
蟋蟀となるのは、よく変化すると言うべきである。
ここに鳥山石燕という者が絵を描くことを楽しみとして
長年やっており、その筆もまたよく変化して
森羅万象で描けないものはないと言える。
以前に『画図百鬼夜行』を著して世間の人々に知られる
ところである。今またもや古画の百鬼夜行に基づいて
