現代語訳

【右丁】
䗪虫　『本草綱目』で蘇恭が言うには、「この虫は鼠の巣穴の土中や屋根の壁の下に好んで生息する。形は鼠婦（だんごむし）に似ているが大きく、
一寸余りの大きさで、鼈のような形をしているが甲羅がなく、鱗がある。子供たちがよく捕まえて物を背負わせて遊ぶ。」弘景が言うには、「形は扁平で鼈のようで、甲羅があるが飛べない。少し臭気がある。」

この虫は象を飼っている場所の土中に生息する。ゴキブリの類である。日本でも出羽庄内に
産するものは舶来のものと同じで、形が大きく美しい。効能もまた異なることはない。薩摩からも
産するという。中国では土鼈の名がある。『本草彙言』に言うには、「この虫を刀で断つと
中に白い汁が漿のようにある。接合して半日すると再び連続してつながり、歩き回ることができる。そのため現在の人々はこれを用いて跌撲による損傷を治し、筋骨を続ける奇功がある」というものがこれである。

over one sun in size, shaped like a turtle but without a shell, having scales instead. Children often catch them to make them carry things as play." Hongjing says: "The shape is flat like a turtle, with a shell but cannot fly. It has a slight odor."

This insect lives in the soil where elephants are kept. It is a type of cockroach. In Japan too, those produced in Dewa Shōnai
are the same as imported ones, large in form and beautiful. Their efficacy is also no different. They are also said to be produced in Satsuma. In China it has the name "earth turtle." The "Bencao Huiyan" says: "When this insect is cut with a knife,
there is white juice like syrup inside. When joined together, after half a day it reconnects and continues, and can walk around. Therefore, people nowadays use this to treat injuries from falls and blows, and it has miraculous effects in reconnecting sinews and bones" - this refers to this creature.
