現代語訳

【右丁】
海馬　琉球産の奇品　リュウグウノコマ　タツノオトシゴ
　『台湾府志』に記載されている海龍である。その書に曰く、「海龍は澎湖澳に産する。冬の日に双で海辺に躍り出る。漁人がこれを捕獲して珍物と呼ぶ。頭と尾は龍に似ているが牙や爪はない。長さは一尺に満たない。これを薬に入れて用いると、効能は海馬に倍する」。孫元衡の詩に云く、「澎島の漁人、我が歌を乞う、海龍双で躍り出る盤渦より、爪牙いまだ具わらず、空しく鱗鬣あり、直ちに枯魚の河を泣いて過ぐるに似たり」。

Seahorse - A rare product from Ryukyu - Dragon Palace Horse - Tatsu-no-otoshigo
　This is the sea dragon recorded in the "Taiwan Prefecture Gazetteer." The book states: "Sea dragons are found in Penghu Bay. On winter days, they leap in pairs onto the beach. Fishermen capture them and call them treasures. Their head and tail resemble a dragon but have no fangs or claws. They are less than one shaku in length. When used in medicine, their efficacy is double that of seahorses." Sun Yuanheng wrote a poem saying: "The fishermen of Peng Island request my song, sea dragons leap forth in pairs from the swirling vortex, claws and fangs not yet formed, only scales and mane in vain, just like dried fish weeping as they cross the river."
