龍虱の一種で、羽州米沢の産物である。
方言でガムシと呼ぶ。水中に生息する。村の人々は
醤油で煮付けて焙って食べる。味は
美味である

豆娘《割書：ワカシユトンボ｜ヒメトンボ》

　　　　　　　　　　俗名ヤゴの時期があって殻を
　　　　　　　　　　脱いで羽化する。鬼ヤンマに
　　　　　　　　　　変化して高く飛ぶ。
　　　　　　　　　　その頭は別に離れて
　　　　　　　　　　も抜けるものである。下に
　　　　　　　　　　図する通りである。

私が借りてきて写し終えた。
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　サンショウウオ　『物理小識』の黒魚である《割書：越｜后》俗に
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　千貫虫と言う。その腹の下は紫赤色で、因って赤
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　腹とも言う。生きて
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　いるものは人が
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　見ることはない
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　ものである。
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　動きは遅い。
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　清泉に生息し、
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　イモリが死んだ
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　水に住むのと
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　異なる。
箱根の湖水中の
産物で、その乾燥したもの
を雌雄一対として
薬屋で売っている
ものがこれである。雌なるも
のは腹が大きくて卵がある。
小児の五疳に酒に浸して焙り
香ばしくして用いる。また労咳に
用いてその効果は蛤蚧に劣らない
と言う。

This is a type of diving beetle, a product of Yonezawa in Uzen Province.
In dialect it is called "Gamushi." It inhabits water. The local people
cook it in soy sauce and roast it to eat. The taste is
delicious,
they say.

Damselfly 《Small text: Young dragonfly | Small dragonfly》

　　　　　　　　　　There is a time when it is commonly called "Yago" (nymph), and it
　　　　　　　　　　sheds its shell and metamorphoses. It transforms into
　　　　　　　　　　a large dragonfly and flies high.
　　　　　　　　　　Its head can separate and
　　　　　　　　　　come off as well. As illustrated
　　　　　　　　　　in the figure below.

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　Salamander　This is the black fish from "Butsuri Shōshiki" 《Small text: Echizen | Echigo》Commonly
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　called "Sengan-mushi" (thousand kan insect). Its belly underneath is purple-red, hence also
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　called "red-belly." Living
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　specimens are things that
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　people never see.
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　Its movement is slow.
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　It lives in clear springs,
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　different from newts that
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　live in stagnant water.

This is a product from
the lake waters of Hakone. The dried
specimens are sold at
apothecaries as
male-female pairs.
The female has
a large belly with eggs.
For children's five gan diseases, it is soaked in sake and roasted
to make it fragrant before use. It is also used for consumption cough,
and its efficacy is said to be
no less than that of gecko.
