【右丁】
大碧蛾偶見之身重不能高飛者未詳何樹蠹
蟲所化

【左丁】
此類俗ニユウガホヒヤウタント云身重クシテ飛
フコトヲ解セズ何レノ木蠹ノ化スル処ヲ詳ニセス
或云近来山繭ヲ作リ織出スモノアリ此
蛾ノ種子ヲカヘシ柘楮等ノ木ニ養育シテ
繭ヲトルト云

現代語訳

【右丁】
大きな青い蛾で、偶然見かけたものである。身体が重くて高く飛ぶことができない。どの樹木の蠹虫（きくいむし）が変化したものかは詳細不明である。

【左丁】
この類は俗にユウガオヒョウタンと呼ばれ、身体が重くて飛ぶことができない。どの木の蠹虫が化したものかは詳しくわからない。
ある人が言うには、近頃山繭を作って織物を織り出すものがあり、この蛾の卵を孵化させ、柘や楮などの木で養育して繭を取ると言う。

英語訳

【Right Page】
This is a large blue moth that was occasionally observed. Its body is heavy and it cannot fly high. It is unclear which tree-boring insect it transformed from.

【Left Page】
This type is commonly called "Yūgao-hyōtan" and has a heavy body that prevents it from flying. It is not known in detail which wood-boring insects they transform from.
Someone says that recently there are those who make mountain cocoons and weave textiles from them, hatching the eggs of this moth and raising them on trees like Chinese mulberry and paper mulberry to obtain cocoons.
