【右丁】
会津の方言でヨロイテウ（鎧蝶）と呼ぶ。クヌギ林にいて、カシワの葉を食べる虫が山繭を作り、また化してこの蝶となるものであろうと言う。果たしてそうなのかは詳しくは分からない。しかしながら、この蝶は夏の初めにカシワやクヌギが多い林中の辺りを飛行しているのを捕獲した。

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　色のように極めて美しい。

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　これもまた雄の鳳車
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　の別種であって、
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　珍品である。

五月上旬、左に図示した所の巣よりこの蝶が破って出た。

　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　性質が軽快敏捷で人に捕獲されない。指
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　先に酒を塗って差し出せば、花より
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　指先に移って貪るように吸う。口吻を爪
　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　　で捕らえれば逃げることができない。

　　　毛虫の巣は毛を以って造る。内部は空洞があって
　　　繭のようである。その巧みさは非常に美しい。

Called Yoroi-chō (Armored Butterfly) in the Aizu dialect. It lives in oak forests, and they say that insects that eat oak leaves make mountain cocoons and then transform into this butterfly. Whether this is truly the case is not known in detail. However, this butterfly was captured flying around the edges of forests with many oak and sawtooth oak trees in early summer.
