　浪打際ノ石垣ノ間ニ生ス人見レハ疾走テ石罅ニ竄ル捕ヘガタシ脚
　左右拾四本アリ肚ヨリミレハ脚ハカリニテ肉ナシ鼠婦ニ異ナラズヒゲ
　長クヨク揺カスモノナリ赤トンボ　　　　　　　　　　ニ化スルト云
　ハ詳ナラズ按ニ鎮江府志
　云鼠婦一名蒲鞵蟲ト
　此又鼠婦虫ノ属也

草鞋虫　フナムシ
波打ち際の石垣の間に生息する。人が見ると素早く走って石の隙間に逃げ込む。捕まえにくい。脚は左右十四本ある。腹から見ると脚ばかりで肉がない。鼠婦（だんごむし）と変わらない。髭が長くてよく揺らすものである。赤とんぼに化すると言うが、詳しいことは分からない。按ずるに鎮江府志に「鼠婦、一名蒲鞵虫」と言う。これもまた鼠婦虫の仲間である。

Lives among stone walls at the water's edge. When people see it, it runs quickly and hides in rock crevices. It is difficult to catch. It has fourteen legs on each side. Viewed from the belly, it appears to be all legs with no flesh. It is no different from the sow bug (pill bug). It has long whiskers that it frequently waves. It is said to transform into red dragonflies, but the details are unclear. According to my examination, the Zhenjiang Prefecture Gazetteer states "sow bug, also called rushoe insect." This is also a member of the sow bug family.
