【右丁】
木蛭（きひる）　木ヒル、山ビルとも言う。信州木曽山中、伊豆の天城山等に多い。旅人の足音を聞いて高木の頂上から雨のように落ちてくる。人の襟や紐の内に入るのを気づかず、痒みを掻く時に初めて血を吸われることを知る。毛穴に吸い付くと、取り去る時に出血が止まらず、その毒でついに瘡（傷）ができる。恐ろしいものである。その毒を受けた者には、辰砂・麝香を入れた丹薬を塗れば、たちどころに痒み・痛み・腫れ・炎症が治るものである。藍染めの深い布並びに煙草のヤニがその毒を解す。この生物は水産のものより形が小さく、図の如し。

Wood Leech (Kihiru) - Also called Wood Hiru or Mountain Hiru. Abundant in the mountains of Kiso in Shinshū Province, Mount Amagi in Izu, and other places. Upon hearing the footsteps of travelers, they fall like rain from the tops of tall trees. They enter into people's collars and cord ties without being noticed, and one only realizes they are sucking blood when scratching an itch. When they attach to pores, bleeding does not stop when removed, and their poison eventually causes sores to form. They are fearsome creatures. For those who suffer from their poison, applying a cinnabar medicine containing musk provides immediate relief from itching, pain, swelling, and inflammation. Deep indigo-dyed cloth and tobacco tar neutralize their poison. This creature is smaller in form than aquatic ones, as shown in the illustration.
