人にはみせさりしにいかゝしてやこの事
耕書堂にきこへ侍りけれは主のとく来て
いへる此集いたつらに紙虎の居膳となさん
よりもとみに梓にのほせて四方にはしら
しめんよ君かつ我に得させよ是に報？に
品ありとてひとつの璦函を出してうや〳〵
しくもひらきたるはなんそかの金鶏てふ
奇石なりそもこの石や予にありてはさらに
葛山人の烏石にもおなしかるへしあまり
にもふしきにもかゆき所に手のとゝくこゝち
せらるそのうれしさいふへくもあら
ねはかの乙女の天の羽衣を得しこゝちして
駿河舞とはかいつけ【搔い付け】侍る

人には見せなかったのに、どういうわけかこの事が耕書堂に聞こえてしまった。主人が早速やって来て言うには「この集をいたずらに紙虎の居膳とするよりも、急いで版木に彫って四方に広めよう。君もまた我に得させよ」と、これに報いるためであろうか、品のあるものがあると言って、一つの宝石箱を出して、うやうやしく開いたところ、なんとあの金鶏という奇石であった。そもそもこの石が私のところにあっては、さらに
葛山人の烏石にも等しいであろう。あまりにも不思議で、かゆいところに手が届く心地がする。その嬉しさは言いようもないので、あの乙女が天の羽衣を得た心地がして、「駿河舞」と名付けたのである。

Though I had not shown it to anyone, somehow this matter reached the ears of Kōshodō. The master came quickly and said, "Rather than let this collection remain idle as a paper tiger's ornament, let us hurry to carve it on printing blocks and spread it in all directions. You too shall let me obtain it." Perhaps as recompense for this, he said there was something of quality, brought out a jewel box, and reverently opened it to reveal none other than that wondrous stone called the Golden Rooster. Indeed, if this stone were with me, it would surely be
equal to Kazurayama-jin's Crow Stone. It is so mysterious and feels like reaching an itch in just the right place. The joy is beyond words, so feeling like that maiden who obtained the celestial feathered robe, I have named it "Suruga Mai."
