国（くに）俵（たわら）秀郷（ひでさと）が方（かた）
より使者（ししや）到着（とうちやく）して
相供（あいとも）に力（ちから）を合（あわ）せ
朝敵（ちやうてき）将門（まさかと）を追伐（ついばつ）す
べきよしまふしこしければ
さてこそ白鳥（しらとり）の應（をう）い
ちじるしとて直（すぐ）に
下野（しもつけ）の国（くに）へと

【白鳥を見やる繁盛、兼任兄弟】
そして艮（北東）の方角を指して飛んでいった。これは当社の明神の御加護をお与えくださるところであるとして、諸々の兵士たちは勇み喜んだ。そうしているところへ、下野国の俵秀郷の方から使者が到着して、「共に力を合わせて朝敵将門を討伐すべし」との申し入れをしてきたので、まさに白鳥の霊験が著しく現れたとして、すぐに下野国へと急いだ。

The bird then flew toward the northeast direction. Interpreting this as the deity of the shrine bestowing divine protection upon them, all the soldiers were filled with courage and joy. Just then, a messenger arrived from Tawara Hidesato of Shimotsuke Province, proposing that they join forces to subjugate Masakado, the enemy of the court. Taking this as a remarkable manifestation of the white bird's divine omen, they immediately hurried toward Shimotsuke Province.
