さるほどに将門（まさかと）は一 族（そく）良從（らうじう）を
あつめて謀叛（むほん）の企（くわだて）評議（へうぎ）しける
か異見（いけん）區々（まち〳〵）にてさらに一 定（しやう）
せずときに将門が従弟（いとこ）に六郎
公連（きんつら）といふものあり末（はつ）
座（ざ）よりすゝみ出（いで）泪（なみだ）を
はら〳〵と流（なが）し穴（あな）浅（あさ）ま
し斯（かヽ）る忌（いま）わしき企（くわだて）こそ
候はね天地（てんち）開（ひらけ）け【「け」重複】始（はじまり）てより
以来（このかた）君（きみ）を弑（しい）して宗廟（そうひやう）
をたもちしもの和漢（わかん）とも
にいまだきかず今（いま）無為（ぶい）

そうしているうちに、将門は一族や家来を集めて謀反の計画について評議していたが、意見がまちまちで、さっぱり決まらなかった。そのとき、将門の従弟に六郎公連という者がいて、末座から進み出て、涙をはらはらと流し、「ああ、なんと浅ましいことか。このような忌まわしい計画があるとは。天地が開けて始まって以来、君主を殺して宗廟を保った者は、日本でも中国でも、いまだ聞いたことがありません。今、無為の治世の恩恵が四海に溢れ、万民がその教化を誇りとしているこの時に、むやみに兵器を国内で動かそうとは、恐るべきことです」と言った。

Meanwhile, Masakado gathered his kinsmen and retainers to discuss plans for rebellion, but opinions were divided and nothing could be decided. At that time, there was a man named Rokurō Kimtsura, Masakado's cousin, who stepped forward from the lowest seat, tears streaming down his face, and said: "Alas, how shameful this is! What an abominable plan this is! Since heaven and earth first opened and began, no one who has killed his sovereign and preserved the ancestral shrines has ever been heard of, neither in Japan nor in China. Now, when the blessings of benevolent rule overflow the four seas and all people take pride in such enlightened governance, to recklessly take up arms within the realm—this is truly fearsome!"
