現代語訳
【命を承る紀淑人】
国司を派遣して追討するべきであると報告した。摂政忠平公はこれをお聞きになり驚かれ、急いで守護を派遣して制圧するべきであるとして、在京の武士の中でも式部少輔紀淑人は武勇の誉れが高いので、すなわち伊予守に任命し、十日のうちに下向して純友を退治するべしとの仰せがあった。淑人は眉目を輝かせ喜んで退出された。
