よろづの御つゝしみ大
かたならず其頃（そのころ）都（と）下
の貴賤（きせん）もつはら
闘鶏（とうけい）の戯（たわむれ）をな
しけるがしだい
〳〵増長（そうちやう）して鶏（にはとり）
あまた飼立（かいたて）四本（しほん）
柱（はしら）の土俵場（どひやうば）をかまへ
日毎（ひごと）に鶏（にはとり）をもち
きたりて闘（たゝかは）す一鶏（いつけい）の
價（あたへ）万銭（まんせん）に下（くだ）らず漸（やう〳〵）に
家業（かぎやう）を忘（わす）る諸卿（しよきやう）僉儀（せんぎ）
ありてかゝる奇事（きじ）の流行（りうこう）
するも乱（らん）起（おこる）べき前表（ぜんへう）なりとて
かたく此（この）戯（たわむれ）を停止（てうし）せられ年（ねん）

【闘鶏】
あらゆる御慎みが並大抵ではなかった。その頃、都の身分の高低を問わず、もっぱら闘鶏の遊戯を行っていたが、それが次第に盛んになって、鶏をたくさん飼育し、四本柱の土俵場を設けて、日々鶏を持参して戦わせた。一羽の鶏の値段は一万銭を下らず、ようやく本業を忘れるほどであった。諸卿が評議して、このような奇妙な事の流行も乱が起こる前兆であるとして、固くこの遊戯を禁止され、年号を改元して天慶に改められた。

All manner of imperial precautions were extraordinary. Around that time, people of all social ranks in the capital were exclusively engaged in the sport of cockfighting, which gradually became more intense. They raised many roosters and set up fighting rings with four pillars, bringing roosters daily to make them fight. The price of a single rooster was no less than ten thousand coins, and people eventually began to neglect their regular occupations. The court nobles deliberated and concluded that the popularity of such strange practices was also a portent of impending rebellion, so they strictly prohibited this sport and changed the era name to Tengyō.
