【奮戦する御厨三郎将頼】
将頼は「敵がここまで出向いてくるとは思いもよらなかった」と考えていた。矢合わせの鏑矢を射交わすほどのことかと思っていたが、射られて驚き、半里ほど退却したところへ、伏兵していた繁盛の八百余騎が横から大声で叫びながら攻めかかってきた。将頼を中に取り囲み、逃がすまいと激しく攻撃した。そのため将頼の兵たちは我先にと逃げ散ったので、討たれた者の数は分からないほどであった。

Masayori thought, "I never expected the enemy to advance this far." He had assumed it would merely be an exchange of whistling arrows in ritual combat, but when arrows were shot at him in earnest, he was startled and retreated about half a ri. At that point, Shigemori's concealed force of over 800 mounted warriors attacked from the flank, shouting loudly. They surrounded Masayori in the center, attacking fiercely so he could not escape. Masayori's troops fled in panic, each trying to be first to escape, and the number of those killed was beyond counting.
