多（た）の美女（びしよ）花（はな）をかざり
錦（にしき）をよそをひ綾（りやう）
羅（ら）の袖（そで）をかへし頻（びん）
蛾（が）の音（こへ）を和げ郢（ゑい）
曲（きよく）謳歌（おうか）せしありさま
は蜀山（しよくざん）の阿房宮（あぼうきう）に
三千の美女（びしよ）嬋娟（せんけん）を
争しことかくやとおもふ
ばかりなり或（あるひ）は父母（ふぼ）の
睦（むつ）びを引分（ひきわか）ち夫（ふう）
婦の契（ちぎ）りを
おし離（はなさ）れあらぬ

【酒宴に侍る美女】
贈られてきたので、非常に多くの美女が花を飾り、錦の着物を身にまとい、綾羅の袖を翻し、美しい声を和らげて、雅やかな曲を歌った。その様子は、蜀山の阿房宮に三千の美女が美貌を競ったことと同じようであったと思われるほどであった。ある者は父母の愛情を引き裂かれ、夫婦の契りを無理やり離され、本来あってはならない別れを悲しんだ。美女は何百人というその数を知ることができないほどであった。

【Beautiful Women Attending the Banquet】
As they were sent as gifts, an enormous number of beautiful women adorned themselves with flowers, dressed in brocade robes, fluttered their sleeves of fine silk, softened their voices, and sang elegant songs. The scene was so magnificent that it seemed comparable to the three thousand beauties competing in charm at the Abō Palace on Mount Shu. Some had been torn from their parents' affection, forcibly separated from their matrimonial bonds, and grieved over unnatural partings. The number of beautiful women was so great—hundreds upon hundreds—that it was impossible to count them all.
