へ入置風はけしき夜（よる）火（ひ）のて
を揚（あげ）させ城中ゟ切て出んと斗（はかり）
けるがいかゞしてけん此（この）計（はかりこと）も
れ聞へければ扨は敵方ゟ

覚ゆ割符（わりふ）を以（もつ）て
捜（さぐ）るべしと其手（そのて）
〳〵を改らる惣而（そうじて）
此城中の掟（おきて）に長
二尺幅五寸の白布（しらぬの）
にて割符（わりふ）をこし
らへ鎧（よろい）の上帯（うはをび）

【忍びの者を捕える武士たち】
に潜入させ、風の激しい夜に火の手を上げさせ、城中から切って出ようと計画していたが、どうしたことかこの計略が漏れ聞こえてきた。そこで敵方から城中へ忍びの者がいると思われる。割符を用いて探し出すべきだと、それぞれの部隊を検査した。そもそもこの城中の掟として、長さ二尺幅五寸の白布で割符を作らせ、鎧の上帯に納めておいて味方の識別符とされていたが、案の定これを持たない者が十二人もいた。

【Warriors Capturing Spies】
They had infiltrated and planned to set fires on a windy night and launch a surprise attack from within the castle, but somehow this plot was overheard. It was suspected that there were spies from the enemy side within the castle. They decided to search using identification tokens, and each unit was inspected. Originally, according to the rules of this castle, identification tokens were made from white cloth two shaku long and five sun wide, kept in the upper belt over the armor as ally identification markers. Indeed, there were as many as twelve men who did not possess these tokens.
