尻（しり）につばきをぬり
付（つけ）眉見（みけん）の真中（まんなか）喉（のんど）
の下（した）まて射（い）つけ
たり龍王（りうわう）甚（はなは）だ悦（よろこ）び
太刀（たち）鎧（よろい）巻絹（まききぬ）とり
分（わけ）て小俵（こだわら）ひとつ
を秀郷（ひでさと）に与（あた）へ
けり此（この）俵（たわら）の中（なか）に
金銀（きん〴〵）米銭（へいせん）かすかぎ
りなく納（おさめ）入ていかに
とり遣（つか）へどもつく
ることなし是（これ）より
世（よ）の人 俵（たわら）秀郷（ひでさと）と云
ならわせしとぞ
けにありがたき勇（ゆう）

現代語訳
【秀郷を迎える大王】
矢じりに唾液を塗りつけ、眉間の真ん中から喉の下まで射通した。龍王は大いに喜び、太刀・鎧・巻絹、とりわけ小俵一つを秀郷に与えた。この俵の中には金銀・米銭が限りなく納められており、どれほど取り使っても尽きることがない。これより世の人は俵秀郷と呼び習わすようになったということである。実にありがたい勇士であったのだろう。
英語訳
【The Great King Welcomes Hidesato】
He smeared saliva on the arrowhead and shot it through from the center of the eyebrows down to below the throat. The Dragon King was greatly pleased and gave Hidesato a sword, armor, rolled silk, and especially one small rice bale. Inside this bale were stored gold, silver, rice, and coins without limit, and no matter how much one took and used, it would never be exhausted. From this time on, people of the world came to call him Tawara Hidesato (Rice Bale Hidesato). He was truly a most blessed warrior.
