井様御廻り品川札場辺そば屋へ休足致居候所
浪人体之もの弐十人余□抜身ニ而持込尚放発
等致候而立出候ニ付跡ヲ付候所薩州屋敷へ引
取候ニ付直ニ酒井矦ゟ懸合候所右様のもの屋
敷へは参り不申候との挨拶ニ付無相違見届候
趣申越候所不当之挨拶有之廿五日酒井矦人数
へ鉄炮打懸候ニ付双方打合候所薩州屋敷内ゟ
火出来候而廿五日夕方迄打合諸大名人数追々
薩州屋敷を取結之内所々え火を懸逃出品川辺
ニ蒸気船ニ艘先月ゟかゝり居候へ乗移出船致
候路へ逃残之人数も品川辺逃道へ火をかけ逃
出候へ共大船出船致候ニ付乗返り三四十人余

酒井様がお回りになり、品川札場辺りの蕎麦屋で休足していたところ、
浪人体の者二十人余りが抜き身を持って押し込み、なおかつ発砲
等をして立ち去ったので、跡を付けたところ薩摩屋敷へ引き
取ったので、直ちに酒井侯から掛け合ったところ、そのような者は屋
敷へは参っていないとの挨拶があったので、間違いなく見届けた
趣旨を申し越したところ、不当な挨拶があったので、二十五日酒井侯の人数
へ鉄砲を撃ちかけたので、双方撃ち合ったところ、薩摩屋敷内から
火が出て、二十五日夕方まで撃ち合い、諸大名の人数が次々と
薩摩屋敷を取り囲む中、所々に火をかけて逃げ出し、品川辺りに
蒸気船二艘が先月から係留していたのに乗り移って出船した
道へ逃げ、残りの人数も品川辺りの逃げ道に火をかけて逃げ
出したが、大船が出船したので乗り遅れ、三四十人余りが
どちらへ逃げたのか分からないということで、次々と江戸の
入口出口等に新しい関所ができ、この節は厳重だそうです。死人・怪我
人が夥しくあったそうです。
江戸中でこれまで夜盗・押借等は薩摩屋敷から出ていたそうで、
この節はさっぱり夜盗等もないそうです。
江戸の玄米はこの節値上がりし、一石一斗六升、府中辺りでは一石一斗
九升位

Lord Sakai was making his rounds and resting at a soba shop near the Shinagawa checkpoint when
about twenty or more masterless samurai burst in with drawn swords and even fired shots
before departing. When they followed their trail, the men retreated to the Satsuma domain mansion.
When Lord Sakai immediately made inquiries, they received a response that no such persons
had entered the mansion. When he reported that he had definitely confirmed otherwise,
there was an improper response, so on the 25th, they fired guns at Lord Sakai's men.
When both sides exchanged fire, a fire broke out from within the Satsuma mansion,
and they fought until the evening of the 25th. As the forces of various daimyo gradually
surrounded the Satsuma mansion, they set fires in various places and fled. Near Shinagawa,
two steamships that had been moored since last month were boarded and departed.
Those who fled by that route and the remaining forces also set fires on the escape routes near Shinagawa and fled,
but since the large ships had already departed, they missed their chance to board. About thirty to forty men
escaped to unknown destinations. Consequently, new checkpoints were established at various
entrances and exits of Edo, and security is said to be very strict at present. There were reportedly
numerous dead and wounded.
Throughout Edo, night thieves and robbers had apparently been coming from the Satsuma mansion,
but since this incident, there have been no night thieves at all.
