し宿へ帰り養母へ申候は親只今何方ニおゐて
大病之様子一人ニ而は連帰り兼候間早速同道
参り候様申候ニ付養母も参候処山の内え連参
り親を殺候わけを申母のたぶさを取引たをし
顔 の（マヽ）石の上えすりあて又大石を以つて頭を打
ひしぎ殺候よしニ而其侭宿え帰り翌日迄しら
ぬふりを致居候所女房は両親とも起不申候ニ
付参り見候所居不申候ニ付何方へ参り候や尋
候へ共わかり不申騒候ニ付 〇（〇夫）申候は何方へ参り
候や我等参り占を致見候様可致と申出候而暫
過帰り候而女房え申候は占候処親は何方ニ死

審之事ニ付右之者ニ村之者とも相尋候へ共初
之程かくし居候へ共不叶とや【「申」を見せ消ち】存候事と相見逃
出候ニ付大勢追行召捕行候へは全く前件之次
第申候由ニ付女房驚有合候小刀を以テ夫へ切
かけ候へ共両三ケ所手きづおわせ候へ共大勢
之者取押入牢ニ相成候よし承り及ひも無之大
悪不道之致方と存し女房之心中如何可有之候
現代語訳
そして宿へ帰り、養母に申したことは「親が只今どこかで
大病の様子で、一人では連れて帰ることができないので、早速同行して
参ってください」と申したので、養母も参ったところ、山の中へ連れて参り、
親を殺したわけを申し、母の髪を掴んで引き倒し、
顔を石の上にすりつけ、また大石でもって頭を打ち
砕いて殺したとのことで、そのまま宿へ帰り、翌日まで知ら
ないふりをしていたところ、女房は両親とも起きてこないので
参って見たところいないので、どこへ参ったのか尋ね
たけれどもわからず騒いだので、夫が申したことは「どこへ参った
のか、我等が参って占いをして見てみましょう」と申し出て、しばらく
経って帰ってきて女房に申したことは「占ったところ、親はどこかで死んで
おり、母はある方角で死んでいる」と申したので、急に近隣の者
等が参ったところ、婿が申した通りの所で死んでいたので、あまりに不
審なことなので、右の者に村の者どもが相尋ねたけれども、初め
の程は隠していたけれども、隠しきれないと思ったのか、逃げ
出したので、大勢で追いかけて召し捕ったところ、全く前件の次
第を申したとのことで、女房が驚いて手元にあった小刀でもって夫へ切り
かかったけれども、二、三ヶ所手傷を負わせたけれども、大勢の
者が取り押さえ、入牢することになったとのこと。聞き及んでも言葉もない大
悪非道の仕方だと思い、女房の心中はいかほどであろうか。

He then returned to the lodging and told his adoptive mother: "Father is now somewhere with
a serious illness, and I cannot bring him back alone, so please come with me immediately."
So the adoptive mother also went, whereupon he led her into the mountains and,
explaining why he had killed the father, grabbed the mother by the hair and knocked her down,
ground her face against stones, and also struck her head with large stones,
crushing her to death. He then returned to the lodging as if nothing had happened and pretended ignorance until the next day.
When his wife found that both parents had not gotten up,
she went to look but they were not there, so she asked
where they had gone, but no one knew and there was a commotion. The husband said, "Where could they have
gone? Let me go and divine their whereabouts." After a while
he returned and told his wife: "I divined and found that father is dead somewhere
and mother is dead in a certain direction." Suddenly neighbors
came, and they found the bodies dead exactly where the son-in-law had indicated. This being extremely
suspicious, the villagers questioned the man, but though he
concealed the truth at first, perhaps thinking he could no longer hide it, he tried to
escape. A large group pursued and captured him, whereupon he confessed the entire
sequence of events. His wife, shocked, attacked her husband with a small sword she had at hand,
inflicting wounds in two or three places, but the crowd
restrained her, and he was imprisoned. Having heard this, I am speechless at such great
evil and inhumanity, and I wonder what must be in that woman's heart.
