Wheat 4 to - continuing to fall due to weather conditions 《Side note: 16th day | 80 degrees》 Morning haze, hot, strong sunshine from 5th hour and a half From the evening of the 12th, alarm bells were rung at two locations in the heights of Ōta village, and gradually 700-800 people gathered. They pressed toward the Kobayashi residence in the same area, destroying it mercilessly, pulling out and burning all goods and account books. A total of three houses of the Kobayashi family were destroyed. This was because of their habitually unscrupulous behavior - they owned many tenant houses and other lands, but due to the current situation, they suddenly withdrew them, and also strictly collected loans without allowing even one mon to be overdue. This caused all those who had dealings with them to harbor resentment, leading to this disturbance, according to rumors. This happened on the night of the 12th at the 9th hour when half-bells were rung at Kizaki, and also at Nishi-no-ue fire watchtower. About 100 people gathered from this, and including onlookers, there were 300-400 people. Two portable shrines were tied with thin rope and abandoned at Nishi-no-ue. Then they forced their way into Kobayashi Hikotayū's place, gathered all merchandise and account books in one place, set fire to them and burned everything. They also smashed doors, sliding screens, tools, storehouse doors, etc. All display goods and about 30% of the storehouse goods were carried out and burned in the residence grounds. Then they forced their way into the branch family's sake brewery, a place called Kobayashi Hikonoshin, cut the hoops of sake barrels, removed and burned tools and account books. After 8:30, everything was completely withdrawn to somewhere...
