当地形行之儀も差而相替不申候へとも太物
は益々気配能其他日用物大ニ高値ニ而地廻
り米上白九升ゟ壱斗位水油壱升弐貫入ニ而
当節何レへ参候ても五合ツヽより売渡不申

其筋御調有之候節は素人迄も買〆致置候も

烈公様のお子様である民部大輔様のこと、この度清水様のお家をご相続になるよう仰せ出されました段、ご通達。
松平民部大輔様のこと、フランスへお入りになられた由。

江戸からの手紙：
当地の情勢の件も特に変わりありませんが、太物（絹織物）はますます相場がよく、その他日用品が大変高値で、地回り米上白は九升から一斗位、水油一升二貫入りで、当節はどこへ行っても五合ずつよりお売り渡ししません。
色々聞きますところでは、右の少しずつ売る方法をとっておりますが、いずれその筋でお調べがあります節は、素人までも買い占めて置いたものを残らず申し立てがあるという風聞も致します。いずれにしても早々値下がりしてほしく思います。なお酒なども並物が金百七十両位、上物が金二百両位、誠に小前の者が難渋致します。何とぞ早々値下がりしますよう願い奉ります。

Regarding the situation in this area, there is no particular change, but silk fabrics are increasingly in good demand, and other daily necessities are very expensive. Local rice (high quality) is about 9 to 10 shō per unit, lamp oil is 2 kan per shō, and currently wherever you go, they only sell in portions of 5 gō at a time.
From various reports, they are selling in small quantities, but it is rumored that when the authorities investigate, even ordinary people will have to report all their hoarded goods. In any case, we hope for prices to drop quickly. Even sake costs about 170 ryō for regular quality and about 200 ryō for high quality - truly causing hardship for common people. We earnestly pray that prices will drop soon.
